The Volvo Group is a Swedish multinational manufacturing company headquartered in Gothenburg. While its core activity is the production, distribution, and sale of trucks, buses and construction equipment, Volvo also supplies marine and industrial drive systems and financial services. In 2016, it was the world's second-largest manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks.
Volvo has awful customer service and treatment, Jay describes on consumeraffairs.com how the car is a total loss for engine fire, that customer service didn't take responsibility for it.
"I'm writing to you in frustration and disappointment as to the very poor customer treatment I've received from Volvo USA. I've many emails on file, between us that cover the situation. It has to do with an engine fire to our 2009 S80. This was well documented in a recall of this car and model year. Our Volvo did catch engine fire due to the exact circumstances as outlined in the 2009 recall. Volvo agents inspected the car, it’s obvious the car fire is precise as described in the recall! I sent Volvo service records and a complete CarFax history, proving this car has been impeccably maintained exclusively by authorized Volvo dealers. I’ve accumulated a lot of data, that IN FACT our model and year WAS on Federal recall lists for this exact situation. Our Volvo is a total loss. The engine fire left it with no useful value to anyone. We need to buy another car but unable to afford one at this time. I appeal to you to find us a way through this loss."

Younger, more productive, lower paid employees, are often made to perform the workload of more senior, less productive employees. This is a disincentive for high performing employees to stay with the company and build their careers. Seniority is the only form of merit, not quality of work performed. Management does not understand this and employees that have demonstrated to be of higher value, often find another employer that is willing to acknowledge that value. Human Resources at Volvo honestly had no idea what was going on. It would take months to get something as simple as an address updated. This created problems with tax documents and insurance enrollment. According to the contract, the way I had left the company and hours worked in 2019, meant I was eligible for full vacation payment upon leaving the company. HR disagreed and failed to provide a contractual reason for why I would not be paid my leftover vacation. A few months into the pandemic, more layoffs occurred, so more employees needed their vacation paid out. I was then contacted by HR with an apology that they had made a mistake, they should have paid me, and will issue a check. Two more months go by and I receive a certified letter saying I'm no longer eligible. If you work for Volvo, use your time there to find another job. When you leave Volvo, burn all your vacation before you leave."

Europeans are really the only people here treated with respect in most cases. Managers don’t even care about their own employees, they only care about making themselves look good, even at the demise of their own employees in some cases. If you are expecting to work on any new or exciting technology, don’t work here. All of that is done in Sweden. There is no clear direction for this company from management, and no hope for current employees in North America. Everyone is going through the motions, and newer employees with high hopes and ambitions are quickly discouraged, even European colleagues that I have discussed this with have the same issues. Very toxic work environment."

I was especially disappointed in the inept HR department, who received numerous serious complaints regarding the behavior of my boss over the years and did absolutely nothing about it. Talented employees just continued to leave. I've heard stories from people in other departments - it's a great place to work if your department is well-run. My advice to jobseekers is this - if you get a funny feeling during your interview that something is "off", it probably is. Please don't let the vacation time and salary sway you. It's not worth it."

Man har smörjt sitt munläder med rätt personer så man slipper jobba alltför hårt. Tyvärr så är det många som inte alls har utbildning utan har kommit dit av antingen utseende eller från att ha jobbat på ex. terminalen som truckförare. Detta kan bli komplicerat då det både kan skapa avundsjuka på nya som kan saker samt att de själva inte förstår vilken tur de har eftersom de hade aldrig fått så bra lön eller frihet i att göra annat när man eg. ska arbeta, som om de ex jobbat som undersköterskor eller i butik. Även att vissa som kommit dit på ett bananskal inte kan samarbeta utan ska ifråga sätta allt möjligt konstigt. Detta gällde alltifrån support till kollegor till chefer på plats. Ledarskapet är bra på att låtsas som om inget är fel även om man sagt konkrekt och tydligt och denna ledarskap ser inte heller vilket jobb man gör. I vissa fall har de inte ens någon aning om vad deras medarbetare gör och visar noll intresse till att verkligen veta. Kamratskapen är inget jag direkt kunde se. Visst fanns det vissa grupper men många är väldigt falska och låtsas vara trevliga och hjälpsamma men är det inte alls när det gäller.Man fick vara beredd på att i princip bli muntligt utslängd till lejon av både chef och kollegor trots att man jobbat häcken av sigFlexMånga så som lön, arbetskulturen i helhet (dåligt ledarskap, dålig jobbmoral, man gör saker för sin egen skull)"
